John gospel dating

This slide graphically presents some important first-century dates and events, including the writing of and relationships among the Gospels.

The article has a good heart but it is almost impossible to defend such a late date for John’s writings. One reason may be that these two events did not fit in to his reason for writing his Gospel, namely to prove that Jesus was the Son of God and that by believing we can have life in His name (John ).The earliest New Testament books, the letters written by Paul, were composed in the decade of the 50s.In the mid-60s, James, Peter, and Paul are all killed. One other reason may be that by 90 or thereabouts they were well-known events throughout the civilized world. The principal affect of the fall of Jerusalem on the church was in regard to its future locality.
